CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is one of over 480 active ingredients contained in cannabis. Of these 480 active ingredients, around 80 are found only in the cannabis plant. These 80 substances are therefore called cannabinoids. “-Oid” in the sense of the Greek suffix “similar, coming from”. The most famous cannabinoid is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which by now is the second-most famous cannabidiol (CBD). At the same time, it is also the second most frequent cannabidiol in the cannabis plant, which is also present in the industrial hemp Cannabis sativa L. In contrast to THC, CBD does not have an intoxicating effect, so it doesn’t make you high.
